South Shore Country Club details

This site is not generally accessible to the public.

Along the boundaries of Staten Island's South Shore Golf course sit 49 acres of freshwater streams and forested wetland. Moisture-loving plants including sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua), red maple (Acer rubrum), and spicebush (Lindera benzoin) thrive in the riparian areas along the streams and wetlands. The woodland is home to eastern cottontail rabbits (Sylvilagus floridanus), red-tailed hawks (Buteo jamaicensis), and great horned owls (Bubo virginianus), among other wildlife. Spring and fall migratory seasons come with the addition of migrating songbirds such as warblers and tanagers.
