Brady's Pond natural area

Brady’s Pond Park is a 6.4-acre forested park on the northeast shore of the 15-acre Brady’s Pond. The pond and surrounding area have a rich history. Over the last 200 years, the land has been used for many activities, including pheasant hunting, ice harvesting, motorcycle racing, and the filming of silent movies. Today, the pond is cared for by the Cameron Lake Club, but it still faces challenges due to runoff from surrounding streets, lawns, and the natural build up of organic matter as the lake ages. Brady’s Pond is connected to the Staten Island Bluebelt system, reducing local flood risk, as it accepts runoff from the Staten Island Expressway and surrounding streets, releasing the water slowly from a weir.
