Mill Rock Park details

This site is not generally accessible to the public.

Mill Rock is a small 2.7-acre rocky island in the East River. It was enlargened with blasted rock from the East River in the 20th century, and after no longer being used for military or commercial purposes, soil accumulated and trees and shrubs volunteered. It has been home to nesting colonies of wading shorebirds and is still surveyed as part of NYC Bird Alliance's Harbor Herons survey.

While experienced kayakers may approach the island by water, no landing should occur because birds can be easily disturbed.
