Tide Gate Bridge Construction

Due to construction on the Tide Gate Bridge, located on Meridian Road within Flushing Meadows Corona Park, vehicular traffic will not be allowed to cross the bridge in either direction. Please follow posted detour signs around Meridian Road and plan for additional travel time. Pedestrian traffic will still be permitted to cross the bridge.



Membership Extension

During the summer, we have had to temporarily reduce operating hours at several of our indoor pools. We understand the impact this has had on our members, and we want to ensure that our members have as much pool time and access as possible.

That said, we are offering qualifying individuals the opportunity to extend their membership by three months for free. To be eligible to receive the extension, you must meet all three qualification criteria:

          
  • Have obtained your membership prior to June 26, 2025, and were an active member on that date.
  •       
  • Be a paying member who possesses either an adult indoor pool membership or a senior, people with disabilities, or veteran membership.
  •       
  • Have visited a qualifying indoor pool site between January 1, 2025 to June 26, 2025.

The objectives of Level 4 are to develop swimmers confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills such as treading, and sidestroke. In Level 4 swimmers improve their learned skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes such as front crawl, elementary backstroke for great distance. Swimmers add the arms to the scissors kick for the sidestroke. Participants also start to learn the back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly and the basics of flip turns.

Swimmers in Level 3 are starting to show stroke proficiency in the front crawl and elementary backstroke. Children will learn survival float, swim front crawl, and elementary backstroke. Scissor and dolphin kicks and treading water are learned as well. Swimmers will learn rules for headfirst entries and begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from a seated position.
Children and youth 6 to 17 years old gain basic swimming skills and learn how to stay safe in and around the water. Lottery based registration.

These options focus on preparing participants for more advanced courses, such as the Water Safety Instructor course, competitive swimming, or diving.

Learn to Dive lessons is tailored to absolute beginners, youth ages 6-17 who would like to learn the basics of competitive springboard diving in an inclusive, fun environment. Participants will learn approaches, forward and back jumps in straight, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives. The mission of the NYC Parks diving program is to make the Olympic sport of diving accessible to New Yorkers and to provide another means for our youth to develop discipline, goal settings, physical fitness standards, and sportsmanship principles. Swimmers must pass a water competency test.

The objectives of Level 4 are to develop swimmers' confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills such as treading, and sidestroke. In Level 4 swimmers improve their learned skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes such as front crawl, elementary backstroke for great distance. Swimmers add the arms to the scissors kick for the sidestroke. Participants also start to learn the back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly and the basics of flip turns.

Participants refine their performance of all the strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke and increases their distance. Flip turns on the front and back are also introduced.

In this children’s art program, we will introduce participants
to different artistic techniques through themes inspired by the
changing seasons. Starting with Fall themed projects, we will
transition into crafts for Thanksgiving and the holiday season. We
will be encouraging creativity through drawing, painting, and mixed
