Recreation Centers Kwame Ture Recreation Center

Due to a mechanical issue, the front entrance of the Kwame Ture Recreation Center is temporarily out of service. Please use the back entrance to access the facility until further notice. Membership Extension

For a limited time, we are offering qualifying members the opportunity to receive a 3.5-month membership extension.
To be eligible to receive the extension, you must meet all three qualification criteria:

          
  • You were an active member on January 30, 2025.
  •       
  • You visited Kwame Ture Recreation Center between July 30, 2024, and January 30, 2025.
  •       
  • You are a paying member who possesses either an adult membership or a senior, veteran, or person with a disability membership.

The Pavilion at Orchard Beach is currently closed to the public.


Recreation Centers St. Mary’s Recreation Center

Anticipated Completion: Fall 2023

Indoor Pools St. Mary's Recreation Center Pool

The indoor pool at St. Mary's Recreation Center is closed while the center is undergoing reconstruction.


Soccer Fields Watson Gleason Playground

The soccer field at Watson Gleason Playground is currently closed.


Indoor Pools Brownsville Recreation Center Pool

The indoor pool is closed at this location.


Recreation Centers Brownsville Recreation Center

Brownsville Recreation Center is open with limited access due to construction. The Golden Age side of the building is open, while the main side of the building is closed. There will be no access to the indoor pool and gymnasium at this time.


Recreation Centers Metropolitan Recreation Center

Metropolitan Recreation Center is currently closed due to a mechanical issue which has resulted in poor dehumidification and air circulation. For the health and safety of our patrons, the Center must remain closed until we are able to install a full dehumidification system in the natatorium through our planned Capital renovation. Park Paerdegat Basin Park

Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City. Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? During the summer, we have had to temporarily reduce operating hours at several of our indoor pools. We understand the impact this has had on our members, and we want to ensure that our members have as much pool time and access as possible.

That said, we are offering qualifying individuals the opportunity to extend their membership by three months for free. To be eligible to receive the extension, you must meet all three qualification criteria:

          
  • Have obtained your membership prior to June 26, 2025, and were an active member on that date.

Tennis Courts Brian Watkins Tennis Center

The Brian Watkins Tennis Center at East River Park is currently closed as part of the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project.


Park John V. Lindsay East River Park

The section of East River Park south of Stanton Street is temporarily closed due to construction as part of the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project, which will protect Lower East Side residents and waterfront parks from coastal storms and sea level rise. East River Park remains open north of Stanton Street. For access to open park areas, use entrances at E. Houston Street, 6th St Bridge, or 10th St Bridge. Park Corlears Hook Park

The east end of Corlears Hook Park is closed due to construction of the East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project. A temporary pedestrian bridge provides access between the park and the Corlears Hook Ferry Terminal in John V. Lindsay East River Park.  Please also see the construction advisory for John V. Beginning Friday, October 24 , through Tuesday, November 4, 2025 the gymnasium at Highbridge Recreation Center will be closed for voting preparation, Early Voting, and General Election.


Recreation Centers J. Hood Wright Recreation Center

The J. Hood Wright Recreation Center will be closed for public access from Friday, October 10 through Wednesday, October 22, 2025 , as the facility prepares to host its annual Halloween event. Please join us on October 18 and 19 for our HallowScream event!


Recreation Centers Jackie Robinson Recreation Center

Beginning Friday, October 24 , through Tuesday, November 4, 2025 the gymnasium at Jackie Robinson Recreation Center will be closed for voting preparation, Early Voting, and General Election.


Kayak/Canoe Launch Sites Muscota Marsh

The East Dock at Muscota Marsh is temporarily closed for repairs. As an alternative, please use the boat launch at Inwood Hill Park or at Sherman Creek.


Kayak/Canoe Launch Sites Riverside Park (79th Street)

The 79th Street Boat Basin marina is currently closed. No vessel dockage, moorage, anchorage or launch services are available. The marina will be dredged and reconstructed to modern codes and standards. The marina is anticipated to reopen in 2028. Related inquiries may be sent to boatbasin@parks.nyc.gov


Marinas West 79th Street Boat Basin

The 79th Street Boat Basin is closed and is anticipated to reopen in 2028. Related inquiries may be sent to boatbasin@parks.nyc.gov


Park Roger Morris Park

Roger Morris Park will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Morris-Jumel Mansion is open Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


Park The Battery

Portions of The Battery, including the Battery Wharf, Gardens of Remembrance, and portions of the Oval Lawn are closed for the Battery Coastal Resilience Project. This project will rebuild and elevate the Battery wharf to reduce risk from rising seas and coastal storms, while preserving the character of the park. Recreation Centers Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center

Beginning on Monday, August 18, Thomas Jefferson Recreation will be closed for approximately 8 weeks in order to complete renovations to the fitness room and multipurpose room. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Marinas World's Fair Marina

Due to a major planned reconstruction project, Pier 1 at the World's Fair Marina is currently closed. There is presently no transient dockage nor passenger pick-ups and drop-offs allowed. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check back with the World's Fair Marina in the future for updates.


Nature Centers Forest Park Visitor Center

Forest Park Nature Center is currently closed to the public.


Recreation Centers Lost Battalion Hall Recreation Center

Dog-friendly Areas Murray Playground Dog Run

The dog run at Murray Playground is closed to the public until further notice. Dog owners are encouraged to visit the nearest dog run, located at Gantry Plaza State Park.
