Gwen Ifill Park natural area

Nestled within the dense residential neighborhoods of Jamaica, this 16-acre park contains a successional forest with towering white oaks among a host of other native tree species. These mature trees and the forest understory provide vital ecosystem services to the local community, including the absorption of storm water runoff and cooler tempertures during periods of extreme heat.
While there is currently no official trail network to access the interior of the park's natural areas, NYC Parks is working on designs to bring more amenities and public access to this special place.
