Isle of Meadows Preserve
This site is not generally accessible to the public.
Isle of Meadows is one of New York's larger islands, approximately 87 acres in size, located offshore of Freshkills Park. The island, which was once predominantly sand bar and salt marsh, now hosts unique habitats with both sparse woodlands and open meadows. The isolated open habitat invites bird species like yellow-billed cuckoos (Coccyzus americanus) that traditionally shy away from urban areas. This site has no public access.
