Rockaway Beach Coastal Cleanup

10:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.

Volunteer with the Stewardship Team to protect coastal areas in Rockaway Beach! Volunteers will help us remove the debris from the coastline to create a healthier ecosystem. Face masks may be worn at your discretion. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. To sign up a group of 10 or more volunteers please reach out to stewardship@parks.nyc.gov.

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.

Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? Check out our Stewardship Projects page for restoration, planting, and educational events.
Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk
The following beach sections are open for swimming:
Beach 15 - Beach 18, Beach 32 - Beach 34, Beach 43, Beach 57, Beach 59, Beach 77 - Beach 79, Beach 83 - Beach 86, Beach 94 - Beach 97, Beach 102 - Beach 106, Beach 116 - Beach 118, and Beach 140 - Beach 144.
All other sections are closed to swimming.
