Rockaway Community Park natural area

Rockaway Community Park is located on the Rockaway Peninsula along the southeastern coast of Jamaica Bay in the Edgemere neighborhood. The 31-acre park extends into Jamaica Bay between Conch Basin to the east and Sommerville Basin to the west and contains both active recreational amenities and natural coastal and upland areas. The park’s natural areas contain significant ecological resources, including intertidal wetlands, freshwater wetlands, forested and herbaceous uplands, as well as several rare, threatened, and endangered plant species.
