10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Winter migration is upon us! Learn all about the bald eagle and its winter migration as we celebrate Teatown Hudson River EagleFest®, an annual celebration of bald eagle winter migration along the Hudson River. Keep watch with Hannah Kirshenbaum and Megan Thorton of NYC Queer Birders in addition to fellow birding enthusiasts for bald eagles and other birds of prey soaring over the Hudson River from the Kate French Terrace. Pop indoors to our warming station in Armor Hall for a hot cup of cocoa and to observe smaller birds at the birdfeeders right outside the windows.
Short bird walks offer additional opportunities to spot eagles and other birds from different vantage points throughout the gardens. An afternoon family bird walk, perfect for the youngest bird lovers, highlights the eagle’s adaptations and behaviors.
Birders of all ages and skill levels are welcome! A limited number of monoculars and binoculars will be available to borrow at the Spotting Station. Pick up a special EagleFest® passport and continue your birding journey north along the Hudson River to other viewing locations or to Croton Point Park for the main event.
Stop by The Shop to check out a selection of bird books, toys, and gifts. The Café at Wave Hill is open all day with lunch, drinks, and snacks for purchase.
The Wave Hill free shuttle is available hourly to and from the Riverdale Metro North station.
Wave Hill House is wheelchair-accessible. There is an accessible, ground-level entrance at the front of the building with a power-assist door. The restroom on the ground level is all-gender and ADA-compliant. Additional ADA-compliant restrooms are available on the lower level, which can be accessed by elevator. A ramp from The Café’s dining room brings visitors onto the Kate French Terrace.
