Clarkson Street Corridor Input
This plan reflects community feedback NYC Parks has heard on recreation programming. The vision celebrates swimming (indoor and outdoor); indoor year-round recreation; public art and history; and ADA accessibility to support active, healthy lifestyles and community cohesion. Improvements over existing indoor recreation center amenities are anticipated to include a larger and fully ADA accessible indoor recreation facility with potential for more than 50% increase in square footage, more indoor pool lap lanes, larger gym for basketball tournaments, and state of the art fitness equipment. J.J. Walker Park will be improved outside of the existing field, with upgraded playground equipment and enhanced shaded seating and pathways. This vision provides a wide range of critical recreational programming to the West Village and Hudson Square communities, as well as an exciting and welcoming destination for all New Yorkers.
Share Your Feedback
NYC Parks is offering the community an opportunity to provide additional public feedback on recreation programming in the Clarkson Street Corridor. There will also be a community input meeting during the design phase for each future capital project (except for Hudson Houston Plaza, for which community input meetings and design phase have been completed).
