Open House New York: Conference House Park

Staten Island, New York City, and the nation’s history and architecture are alive and present within the built environment of Conference House Park. On OHNY Weekend, in addition to the park’s namesake, the circa-1680 Conference House (Christopher Billop House), two other historic house interiors will be open to visitors. This includes the NYC landmark-designated Henry Hogg-Biddle House (circa 1840) with its front and rear two-story portico and the William H. Rutan House (aka The Rutan-Becket House) with its intact 1950s era kitchen, not usually open to the public. The maritime past of Staten Island’s south shore is highlighted by these wonderful historic buildings.

Access to the historic house interiors require stairs. Trails, pathways, and sidewalks connect houses and may be uneven.

Conference House Park may be reached by the S78 bus to the corner of Hylan Boulevard and Craig Avenue, or the Tottenville SIR station. A parking lot and nearby street parking are available.

Open House New York Weekend is an annual festival that unlocks 300 destinations across the five boroughs for behind-the-scenes tours and special activities.
