Facing Climate Change as Urban Gardeners
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Join us for a monthly series of peer-to-peer conversations presented by GreenThumb and NYRP, focused on the urgent topic of climate change. These free gatherings—offered both virtually and in-person—create space for community gardeners and land stewards to connect, learn, and lead. Together, we’ll explore how climate change is impacting New York City and beyond through informed, educational dialogues with experts and local leaders. Sessions will feature practical gardening strategies tailored to a changing NYC climate; collaborative brainstorming on how to position gardens as climate resilience hubs; ideas for strengthening community preparedness and mutual support, and more opportunities to grow knowledge and solidarity in the face of climate disruption. Whether you’re a seasoned grower or just getting started, your voice and presence are vital. Let’s build climate resilience—one conversation at a time.
NYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
