Native Plants for NYC Gardens: Supporting Biodiversity in the City

Wednesday, October 1, 2025

6:00 p.m.7:30 p.m.

Join us for an engaging virtual workshop with NYC Wild Flower Week, exploring the vital role of native plants in New York City’s urban ecology. Together, we’ll explore why local species matter—how they support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, and why they’re essential for building resilient, thriving ecosystems in our community gardens. This session will highlight practical ways gardeners can enhance biodiversity through thoughtful planting and habitat creation. We’ll also spotlight a selection of the most garden-friendly native plants for NYC’s unique climate and conditions—species that are beautiful, beneficial, and easy to grow in shared green spaces.
