9:00 a.m.5:00 p.m.

This event repeats every weekday between 1/23/2026 and 3/13/2026.

The Ebony Society of NYC Parks invites you to celebrate Black History Month with a showcasing of the group’s 40-year legacy. This exhibition features a selection of photographs from the society’s archive as well as poetry created by its members. Visitors will also have the chance to experience the exhibition during an after-hours event featuring spoken word performances as well as wine from Black- owned businesses.

NYC Parks’ Ebony Society was founded with the purpose of unifying Parks' African American community, increasing African American visibility, and recognizing those who make outstanding contributions not only to NYC Parks, but also their communities. The society aims to develop solidarity among its members, encourage participation in organizational and parks activities, support works of charity, and preserve a spirit of pride in the heritage of its members. Since 1985, the Ebony Society has quadrupled its membership, now nearly 300 members’ strong, and it has become an integral part of the Parks family.

Located in the historic Arsenal Building in Central Park, the Arsenal Gallery is dedicated to examining themes of nature, urban space, New York City parks, and park history through a diverse schedule of art and history exhibitions.

Groups of five or more people can call 212-360-8143 or email artandantiquities@parks.nyc.gov to pre-register.
